Hybrid sonic landscapes
Two concert and discussion evenings at Errant Sound, Berlin
1–2 July 2026
We live in a time that not only strongly shapes and partly destroys nature visually, but also intervenes acoustically in the sounds of nature and the planet, in some cases changing them forever and creating new sounds and soundscapes. Exploring this situation and the mutual permeation of these partly new worlds of sound with musical visions, inspirations, and artistic presentations is the subject of this project:
Field recordings, performed sounds, and noises are woven into electroacoustic collages in conjunction with computers and DIY electronics. This process can produce connections between field recordings and electroacoustic sounds that create soundscapes—some of which appear hybrid, surreal, or dystopian—that are not always distinguishable from the actual field recordings, which were in some cases created under extreme or unusual conditions.
At various locations around the world, for example in Antarctica, recording and streaming stations are currently set up to capture the local sound environments. These sounds and their sources will also be presented and transformed in a sound performance into partly real, partly fictional soundscapes.
Both evenings begin with two musical presentations/concerts.
Afterward, the performers will present their projects, ideas, and questions and engage in conversation, discussion, and exchange with the audience.
